Acupuncture Physician, Steven Chasens, has been with Coral Gables Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine and the Aventura Family Health Center since 1996. Steve studied in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. His externship with the West China University of Science and Medicine covered advanced herbal techniques in traditional chinese medicine (TCM), Chinese system of food cures, Qi Gong and medical applications, and the clinical application of acupuncture in the hospital setting. Steve was Nationally Board Certified in Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in 1996. He received his Diplomate of Chinese Herbal Medicine from the National Board Certification in Chinese Herbology in 1997 (NCCA). Steve has a BA from the University of Miami, 1977 and an MS from Nova Southeastern University, 1992. He is a member of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists, the National Commission for the Certification of Chinese Herbology, the American Association of Oriental Medicine and the Florida State Oriental Medical Association.
Steve has been a guest lecturer for the University of Miami School of Medicine, the University of Miami School of Nursing and Nova Southeastern School of Osteopathy. He has presented numerous community lectures throughout Miami-Dade county.
Robert Barrocas, has been with Coral Gables Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine since 2003. He is licensed by the State of Florida and National Board Certified from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) since 2002. Robert is a member of NCCAOM, Southeast Institute of Oriental Medicine (SEIOM), and Florida's State Oriental Medical Association (FSOMA).
Doreen Cott, AP, Licensed Acupuncturist, MT has practiced in the healing arts for over twenty years. Her studies include psychology, anatomy and physiology, and physical therapy. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Oriental Medicine from Emperor's College of Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, CA. She is licensed as an Acupuncture Physician with her practice in Florida. Her holistic approach relies on modern psychological and physiological concepts that incorporate mind-body techniques with the time-honored traditional medicine of China.
Pat Barbee has been an active general practice acupuncture physician in the State of Florida since 1995 and a licensed massage and structural bodywork specialist for over 20 years. His background includes advanced Chinese herbal medicine training, co-directing and teaching programs for the treatment of musculo-skeletal pain, and the development of treatment and exercise therapy protocols for challenging spinal disc and joint pain. Pat is a member of the Florida based Acupuncture Physicians Association.
Doctor Chacon is a state of Florida Licensed Acupuncture Physician and Massage Therapist who has spent the last ten years working in health care. He was recently interviewed by Telemundo for his knowledge and in-depth wisdom on the art and science of acupuncture. His specialties include Oriental Medicine with an emphasis on Biology and Neuromuscular Therapy. Dr. Chacon is also an expert in Facial Rejuvenation, which is a powerful tool for those who are interested in slowing down the aging process and receiving a more youthful, restored appearance. This "Acupuncture Facelift" yields incredible results without harmful side effects and serves as an excellent alternative to plastic surgery or botox. Christy Arias has been involved with the art of healing since 1997. She has built her practice with many different modalities including Reiki & neuromuscular therapy with which she has acquired an expertise in pain relief and management. She was an instructor of Anatomy & Physiology and Massage Therapy for several years, all the while working with numerous clients in their homes. She has also worked in many Spas and Doctors of Chiropractic in the Miami-Dade area. Christy graduated Acupuncture Massage College and acquired her acupuncture license in 2008. She has come aboard our team with much knowledge, experience, energy and enthusiasm in order to give our patients the best care possible.
Ivana Diez joined Coral Gables Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in 2008. Ivana received her BA from Florida State University in 2002 and is currently working on obtaining her MS in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. She has a background in Marketing and Promotions and has previously worked as the Senior Education Manager for Dermalogica, On-Site Promotions Manager for U.S. Concepts and Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College.
Monica Morera, our Marketing Manager, recently joined our staff in April 2009. Monica studied at Florida International University from 2002-2006, and has a wide range of experience in the fields of Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing. Prior to her start at Coral Gables Acupuncture, Monica worked with a variety of companies including event marketing with BFG Communications and coordinated advertising for National and Key Accounts with The Miami Herald.
Donna Vazquez has been the office manager for Coral Gables Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine since 2002. Before working for us, she had been an office administrator for Cedros and an optometrist. Donna is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing at Miami Dade College. Her long term goal is to be a nurse/midwife.
